SANTA'S SECRET HELPER
This fantasy tale tells the story of a mystery helper who steps in to help Santa Claus fulfill his duties for the Christmas holiday. The stranger does everything just as Santa does and in the end it is revealed that it actually Mrs. Claus. The fantasy elements of this picture book are the characters: Santa, Mrs.Claus, and elves, and the ability for them to fly in the sky. The author was able to make the story believable because it centers around a time of the year and a character that children are familiar with. When children are young, most parents engage their students by telling them that Santa will bring them gifts if they are nice. Although the character is not revealed until the end of the story, the author maintans consistency throughout the story by ensuring that the "helper" acts just as Santa would such as leaving gifts, eating the cookies, and allowing the reindeer to rest.
